THE TELEGRAPH - Aiwa targets Rs 8000 crore revenue

We will be diversifying our portfolio to achieve the larger target, says company's managing director

Mehta said the television sets would be manufactured in the country through third-party vendors, which is the current industry practice.

Consumer electronics firm Aiwa India plans to garner Rs 8,000 crore in revenue over the next five years. It plans to invest about Rs 160 crore in the next two years and will focus on social media to push its campaign, a senior company official said on Wednesday.

“We aim to have a revenue of around Rs 8,000 crore over the next 4-5 years. This fiscal we are looking at a revenue of around Rs 400 crore from the sales of television and audio products. “We will be diversifying our portfolio to achieve the larger target,” Aiwa India managing director Ajay Mehta told reporters.

Mehta said the television sets would be manufactured in the country through third-party vendors, which is the current industry practice.

Aiwa, established in 1951 in Japan, has partnered Dixon Technologies to make television sets in India.

He said the chip situation has improved and the firm’s strong presence in Taiwan would help in meeting the demands of the Indian consumers. “Television will be our anchor product. Our smart TVs are Google certified.

"We will sell only through offline retailers initially,” Mehta said. He said the company had launched its audio products and over the next five years would increase the product range to air-conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines.
